Hello, everyone! After a whirlwind few months, I’m thrilled to be back and to share some exciting updates with you. It’s been a while since my last post, but I’ve been busy exploring, teaching, painting, and preparing for some incredible exhibitions. Here’s a little peek into what I’ve been up to!
A Journey Across Borders
Recently, I had the privilege of traveling to Bologna for a week to teach with Flavours Holidays. The experience was as enriching as it was inspiring, filled with creative workshops and wonderful company. From there, I headed straight to Spain for a family holiday—a much-needed dose of sunshine and relaxation.
That said, my skin seems to have developed its own approach to the sun these days. While I once might have tanned, I now return home a little redder and more freckled than before!
A New Online Course
Upon returning, I jumped straight back into creative mode and have been hard at work designing a new online Zoom course. This time, I’ll be exploring the wonders of underwater creatures using watercolours. It’s shaping up to be one of my favourite courses to date. Stay tuned for updates if you’d like to dive into this vibrant, aquatic world with me!
Exhibiting My Work
It’s been an exciting season for exhibitions! Here are some highlights:
Gallery Heinzel in Aberdeen. As part of the Aberdeen Artists showcase, I exhibited two paintings at this beautiful gallery. It’s always a joy to share my work in such a supportive and inspiring environment.
Scottish Society of Artists Annual Exhibition. I’m thrilled to have three paintings at the 126th Annual Exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh. These works, all unframed and sized at 30x30cm, will be available for purchase during the exhibition from 23rd November to 11th December. This is a wonderful opportunity to see a diverse range of Scottish art in a stunning setting.
Edinburgh Macmillan Art Show. I’m also contributing to the Edinburgh Macmillan Art Show, a fabulous event supporting a vital cause. Details about this show can be found on the flyer below, and I’d love for you to check it out if you’re in the area.
Preparing My Own Exhibition: Our Golden Thread
On top of all this, I’ve been putting the finishing touches on an exciting new project—my very own solo exhibition! Titled Our Golden Thread, this exhibition will feature my most recent body of work, which I hope to display in St Andrews next Spring.
I’m currently finalising a beautifully printed catalogue to accompany the exhibition, and I’m considering hosting a talk about my work for those who might be interested in a deeper dive into my creative process. This project feels like a culmination of many threads of inspiration, and I can’t wait to share it with you all.
Reflecting and Moving Forward
Between traveling, teaching, and creating, these past months have been a whirlwind of activity, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Each project has been a chance to connect with others and express my creativity in new and exciting ways.
I’m so grateful for the opportunities to share my art and ideas, and I hope to continue bringing you along on this journey. Thank you for your patience while I’ve been “off the grid” a bit, and I look forward to keeping you updated more regularly going forward.
Until next time,
Love Jaclyn
